Whenever a new location is created, the logging system automatically creates a series of log files just for that location. For an existing location, we recommend that these location log files be manually reset after each location backup process. Manually resetting location logging immediately after backing up speeds recovery in the event of a serious media failure, since only log entries originating after your location backup need be replayed against your location tables.
The XDB Server logging system automatically creates a series of log files when a new location is created. Logging should be manually reset as a part of the location backup process.
To manually reset location logging:
Location logging should be manually reset after any type of location backup (that is BACKUP LOCATION command or operating system backup).
