Introduction to the Enterprise Server Deployment Toolkit

Note: This document is intended for administrators and installation developers.

It assumes that you are familiar with the specific packaging software you are going to use, such as InstallShield or WiX. For information about how to create the installer, refer to the documentation of your packaging software.

The Enterprise Server Deployment Toolkit gives you more flexibility when deciding how to deploy your COBOL-based applications that depend on Enterprise Server. It contains a number of merge modules and install package files which enable you to integrate Enterprise Server in a Windows installer package that you can then use to distribute your applications to your end users.

The files making up the Deployment Toolkit are contained in the file es_243_deployment_sdk.zip which you can download from the Electronic Delivery Receipt email which you are sent when you purchase a license for Enterprise Server, or from the Micro Focus Software Activation Information email which you are sent when you activate or get a license key.

The Deployment Tookit includes a number of merge modules (.msm files) and installer package (.msi) files for either 32-bit or 64-bit systems. You can include the .msm files in your application's installer if it is an .msi installer. You can use the .msi files in your application's installer if it is a wrapper or a bundle .msi-style installer.

License Manager is only provided as installer packages (.msi) and must be supplied separately where you are using the Enterprise Server merge modules.
