Securing Communications

There are a number of additional configuration options, for logging and setting a TLS (SSL) passphrase, that can be set in the file mf-server.dat, located in %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Micro Focus\Enterprise Developer\bin (Windows) or $COBDIR/etc (UNIX) . These are mostly options that require setting before the Micro Focus Communications Server (MFCS) contacts the MF Directory Server. In the case of logging, this can be useful where there are problems with the connection between MFCS and MFDS. For instructions on the use of mf-server.dat to configure logging for MFCS. See Securing Communications chapter and the To Create a Secure Communications Process topic for more information.

Note: You can use the Micro Focus Vault Facility to store a secret for the certificate and keyfile pass phrases. This can be specified in the mf-server.dat file and takes the following form:
mfsecret:configuration-name:secret-path

or:

mfsecret::secret-path

or:

mfsecret:secret-path
