When running in DB2-mode, the XDB Server provides either full or partial DB2-mainframe support for all SQL statements and clauses. When running against a mainframe location using XDB Link, XDB Link effectively becomes the DB2 subsystem, providing complete DB2-mainframe support for all SQL statements issued by the user.
However, when running against an XDB Server location in a non-mainframe environment, some combination of the following three categories of DB2-mainframe support applies to each SQL statement and clause:
These clauses actually perform some function within the XDB Server. This implementation may not exactly mirror the DB2-mainframe implementation, but is functional in some respect.
None of the information contained within these clauses has a functional purpose within the XDB Server. XDB technology does, however, check the spelling and syntax of these clauses, returning an error to the user if the syntax deviates from correct DB2-mainframe usage. It is also possible that some clause information may be recorded within XDB Server catalog tables. These clauses appear as bold text in syntax statements.
