Numeric values are compared according to their algebraic values. Character strings are compared by comparing the two strings according to the sort sequence specified for the location, beginning with the leftmost characters. For more information on specifying a sort sequence, see the Options User's Guide and the SQLWizard User's Guide. The default sort sequence is a modified ASCII sequence that does not distinguish between upper and lower case letters.
