If you are using TCP/IP to connect XDB Link to the host system, you must edit the HOSTS and SERVICES files on the machine where XDB Link is installed to define the IP address and port number of the host system. Record your values in the space provided.
File | Parameter | Requirements | Suggested Value | Your Value | Ref |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Hosts | IP address | The IP address defined for the host | J1 | ||
Host name | A name that represents this IP address | J2 | |||
Services | Service name | A name that represents this port number | We recommend that you use the name of the XDB Server as the service name. | J3 | |
Port number | The port number assigned to the XDB Link Host Option | 5170 | J4 | ||
Protocol | TCP protocol | tcp | tcp | J5 |
Specify the IP address and host name values in the HOSTS file on the machine where XDB Link is installed. For example, you would enter the line:
240.195.165.202 LUDB2
to assign the host name LUDB2 to the IP address 240.195.165.202.
Specify the service name, port number, and protocol in the SERVICES file on the machine where XDB Link is installed. For example, you would enter the line:
XDBSRV 5170/tcp
to assign the service name XDBSRV to tcp port 5170.
Please return this worksheet to the XDB Link Installation Coordinator.
