CICS applications can operate over networks in client/server, cooperative, and distributed processing modes.
The supported CICS intersystem communication facilities include:
- Transaction routing
- Function shipping
- Distributed program linking (DPL)
- Distributed transaction processing (DTP)
- IBM CICS Transaction Gateway® (CTG). Enterprise Server provides a CTG listener and can process CTG requests, where the requests
conform to the IBM ECI (External Call Interface) or EPI (External Presentation Interface) . The client program contains ECI
or EPI calls, which send requests through the CTG to Enterprise Server.
- IBM Universal Client®. This is effectively the same as the CTG.
For more information about using these facilities, see the chapter
Legacy Extension with MSS in your Mainframe Subsystem Support Configuration and Administration Guide.
