Panels associates one attribute-encoding byte with each text character. When a panel is displayed on the screen, each text character is displayed with attributes encoded in the corresponding attribute-encoding byte.

ACCEPT and DISPLAY statements use Adis to support terminal I/O and when used with Panels, Adis and Panels must use the same attribute encoding. This is automatically provided.
