Field Mapping

Restriction: This topic applies only when the AppMaster Builder AddPack has been installed, and applies only to Windows platforms.

In Online Express, you can map your screen fields to database or Working-Storage fields. You can define these mappings as:

One-way: Input only or output only; moving information from a screen field to a Working-Storage or database field or a database or Working-Storage field to a screen field.
Two-way: Input/output; moving information between a Working-Storage or database field and a screen field. This is the default.

You can define these mappings manually, or, if your screen fields and their corresponding database or Working-Storage fields have identical names, you can set Online Express to automatically map the fields. If a database field exists in multiple database records, you can qualify that field to indicate which record it belongs to.

Using the Field Mapping feature in Online Express, you can also create Working-Storage fields or specify existing Working-Storage fields to which you can map your screen fields. When specifying an existing field that exists in multiple database records, you must qualify that field to indicate which record it belongs to.
