If you are using XDB Link in a gateway configuration, each user that will access DB2 through XDB Link, must have a valid user ID and password on the host, and must have a matching user ID and password on the machine where XDB Link is installed. This is because XDB Link automatically presents a client's XDB user ID and password to the host when the client requests data from DB2. If the XDB user ID and password are not also valid on the host machine, the user won't be allowed on the system.
To create user IDs and passwords on the XDB Server, use the Users or Groups command in SQLWizard (you must have super-user authority to do this). Make sure the user ID and password you create with SQLWizard match the user ID and password on the host.
When passwords are created, note the XDB software is case-sensitive.
For users who will connect only to DB2, and not to databases on an XDB Server, you can configure their user IDs to bypass the password checking process. Doing so eliminates a redundant password check and prevents confusion when a user changes a password on one machine and not another. You may also want to configure a system where the host system acts as a "global" security server.
