Compressing a data set

If the Mainframe Explorer window is not displayed, click View > Mainframe Explorer.

You can only compress partitioned data sets.

  1. In the Mainframe Explorer window, log on to the mainframe.
  2. Expand the required search filter, select the required partitioned data sets, then right-click and select Compress dataset.
    Tip: To select more than one data set, hold down Ctrl while selecting the required data sets.

    The selected data sets are compressed.
