To start the Segment Layout Editor

To start the Segment Layout Editor from your Enterprise Developer project:

1. In Enterprise Developer, open the project that contains your COBOL program.
2. Right-click the COBOL program that contains the Data Division on which you want to base your new segment layout file; then select Create Segment Layout File from the context menu.
3. Select an IMS database from the list; then click Create.

To start the Segment Layout Editor from the Data File Tools IDE:

1. In Data File Tools, click File > New > Segment Layout; then click OK.
2. Select an IMS database from the list; then click Create.
3. Navigate to and select the .idy file generated for the COBOL program that contains the Data Division on which you want to base the segment layouts; then click OK.
