Resource security
Unlike other applications of Access Control lists, resource security is not concerned with sensitivity per se. The purpose of resource security is to provide a manageable environment capable of scaling to meet the demands of large enterprises.
For this purpose, resources are user-defined or configured entities that assist with the creation, reporting, codification, etc. of records for example, Location lists or Classifications. Controlling access to such resources has some benefits for an organisation:
- Few knowledgeable and authorised users create and maintain resources, which many less knowledgeable or unauthorised users will be able to use.
- Resources defined for use by areas of an organisation may be of little use or value to other areas.
More particularly, the very presence (visibility) of resources to those who do not want to use them distracts from productivity.
Content Manager enables you to protect the following resources through Access Control:
- Report layouts
- Saved searches
- Workflow templates
- Thesaurus terms
- Classifications
- Lookup Sets
- Retention Schedules
- Locations.
