Client for Open Enterprise Server 24.1 is an update for Client for Open Enterprise Server 2 SP7 that includes enhancements, improves usability, and resolves several previous issues.
For information on installing the Client on a single workstation, see Client for Open Enterprise Server Installation Quick Start.
For advanced installation options and procedures, see Client for Open Enterprise Server Administration Guide.
You can download and upgrade to the interim release from Market Place.
Beginning with Client for Open Enterprise Server 24.1, the NCP Server Side Copy functionality of “OES Copy” feature has been enhanced to include the following:
File copy operations which were not initiated through the Client for Open Enterprise Server “OES Copy” feature can now also benefit from NCP Server Side Copy, including Copy-and-Paste, Cut-and-Paste, and Drag-and-Drop initiated through Windows File Explorer.
Third-party applications utilizing Microsoft's CopyFile, CopyFileEx, and CopyFile2 APIs can benefit if the Client for Open Enterprise Server network provider (NCNetProvider) is present in memory on such applications during the file operations.
Applications that have the Client for Open Enterprise Server network provider for Windows (NCNetProvider) loaded into the process can benefit from NCP Server Side Copy behavior when calling the Microsoft CopyFile, CopyFileEx, and CopyFile2 APIs. This includes Windows File Explorer and other SHELL32-based File Open dialogs, which typically load the installed Windows network providers.
The Microsoft-provided XCOPY.EXE command does not load any of the installed Windows network providers. Therefore, unlike File Explorer and other applications, XCOPY.EXE is unable to benefit from NCP Server Side Copy functionality.
