Setting INI Options

Overview

All of the Host Compatibility Option tools save commonly used configuration options in file mfhco.ini located in the User Settings directory. This file is created the first time you use Host Compatibility Option and is set to default values. You should over time update the configuration file to your commonly used values. This will save you considerable time in using the Host Compatibility Option tools.

Set Defaults Window

mfhco.ini is an ANSI text file that can be edited using any ANSI text editor. You should probably not set any values in this file until you are familiar with what the valid values are for each configuration parameter.

Set Defaults window

Figure 0-1: Set Defaults window

You can display the Host Compatibility Option default values from the IDE by selecting Configuration from Tools, HCO menu (see Figure 6-1).

The following elements make up the Set Defaults window:

Updating Defaults

To update default configuration values, select parameter to set from Setting list box.

The Value and Description group boxes are updated with the current setting and description of the setting. Drop-down list boxes in Value group box will only include valid options that you can select. Entry fields are free format with little editing. If entry is a drive/folder, you should make sure drive/folder exists as Host Compatibility Option does not create them.

  1. Set new value that you want parameter to use in Value group box
  2. Click Save once all values have been set

A message box is displayed after values have been saved. Changes do not go into effect until the next time you invoke a Host Compatibility Option tool.

Resetting Defaults

If you make a mistake, or you want to find out what the default value is for a parameter, you can just click Defaults. This will reset all parameters to their default value. You need to click Save to save these changes.
